Actor lived on “whiskey, fags, hamburgers, ice cream and more ice cream” for 3 months

In his new movie, entitled “Dom Hemingway,” Jude Law plays the role of a notorious safe-cracker who spent 12 years in prison and is now back on the streets of London looking to recover what he lost.

As you probably guessed, Law’s character isn’t exactly a healthy eater – and neither does he take good care of himself. In order to become that character, Jude adopted a special diet consisting only of junk food and chain-smoking, which eventually helped him add several, unhealthy extra pounds.

“My character is a drunk who drank far too much and eats appalling food and smokes 40 fags a day. For three months my diet was whiskey, fags, hamburgers, ice cream and more ice cream. I didn't feel well by the end,” Jude Law tells The Mirror.

Ironically, he didn’t even use the scales to see if the “diet” was working because he could see the difference in his face.

“I never weighed myself but it added a sagginess and bloated cheeks. I did not feel very well at the end of the five months. By the end of the film I was so ready to quit fags and the drink,” he explains.

The unhealthy diet Jude needed for the movie might have overwhelmed him to such an extent that it could have made him think that making movies isn’t it all it’s cracked out to be, with the actor saying, “I really love acting but it is hard work and sometimes can be quite boring.”

“Genuinely. Making films can be quite boring. It should be something different every time you go to work and feel as if you are embarking on something new,” he stresses.

Maybe the unhealthy ways that Jude adopted had something to do with the feeling of boredom that making movies gave him recently. Hopefully, after a change of diet, he will not still feel the same way.
