The scandal of the now defunct tabloid News of the World is still going on. Actor Jude Law, one of the celebrities involved in the case, has appeared before a judge to settle the matter in which he alleged the magazine hacked his phone and obtained confidential information about his love life. According to Sky News, while on the stand, Jude found out that it was one of his own immediate relatives that sold salacious stories to News of the World in return for money. In the case, Jude accused former editor Rebekah Brooks and others of invasion of privacy.

The 41-year-old was surprised to find that back in 2005 someone from his immediate family was paid to offer information to the mag regarding his relationship with Sienna Miller. At the time, the magazine disclosed that Miller was having an affair with fellow actor Daniel Craig.

Talking about the incident, Law said “No, I did not know that anyone around me was talking to the newspapers, although I suspected it because there was such a flow of information [...] I suspected many people over that period of time.”

Like in a movie, in court Law was handed a piece of paper onto which one of the defense attorney's had written the name of the family member that was paid to disclose information. Jude looked at the paper and said, “I have never been aware of that, getting paid for it.”

The name was not pronounced in court, adding even more to the mystery and the intrigue of the entire matter. While betrayal is never a sweet matter, it's twice as bad when it's a family member, so it must have come as quite a shock for Jude Law to find out that someone from his own family was leaking information to the press.
