Jessica Simpson, now pregnant with her first child, is again making headlines and, oddly enough, this time, she's done nothing. Celebrities and television personalities are weighing in on the amount of weight she's gained since pregnant, Us Weekly reports.

Granted, the former pop singer never made a secret of her love of all fatty foods, and even less now that she has the strangest cravings because of the pregnancy.

At the same time, it's pretty obvious that she's gained weight. However, Joy Behar believes she's just “fat” and she's not afraid to say so on TV, the celebrity publication notes.

It all went down on a recent show of The View, with Behar saying out loud that Jessica has gained too much weight for a pregnant woman, about twice the healthy amount.

“Remember the time that Jessica Simpson was criticized because she didn’t know the difference between chicken and tuna? That kind of thing is more fun to criticize than the fact that the girl is fat,” Behar said, as cited by Us Weekly.

“Most women who are pregnant are not supposed to gain more than 25 pounds [11.3 kg]. She looks like she gained a lot more than that,” she added.

By Simpson's estimation, she's about 40 pounds (18.14 kg) heavier than before. She knows getting back in shape will be a struggle, but she's determined to do her best.

Luckily, while some go on national TV to criticize her for gaining weight during pregnancy, she also has good people who stand up for her – also in front of the cameras.

Whoopi Goldberg is one of them. She gained 90 pounds (40.82 kg) when she was pregnant, so she knows how Jessica must feel right now.

“I lost some of it. But some of it I didn’t lose. You do what you have to do,” she said on the same show.

Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin also came to Jessica's defense, telling Matt Lauer that it should be no one's business whether she remains the same weight or adds a few pounds to her tiny frame.

She also believes that this is possible only because Hollywood continues to push the same unrealistic ideal of beauty as before, where beautiful equals stick thin.

“I would have wanted to punch [Jessica's critics] in the neck. It’s none of anybody else’s business how much weight I would gain. This isn’t even an issue. Hollywood... is full of itty-bitty people, people [who are] unrealistically tiny,” Palin explained.
