The developer behind hit independent games like Flow or Flower, thatgamecompany, has confirmed that Journey might be the last PlayStation-exclusive title it’s going to make.

The studio has impressed lots of people with its quirky experiences, all of which were exclusive to the PlayStation 3, as thatgamecompany had a special contract signed with Sony for three games.

In the future, however, it seems that other titles will appear for different platforms, besides the PS3.

"Thatgamecompany had a three game contract with Sony, so the past three games had to be Sony exclusive," explained Jenova Chen, the studio’s co-founder and creative director to Push Square.

"Right now we are very much exploring ways to bring our games to a bigger audience, beyond just PlayStation. We are still in the process of negotiating, but I hope that we can announce it [soon]. But right now it's still in the process.”

Chen also clarified his statements on the NeoGAF forums, saying that the studio’s current games, including Flow, Flower or Journey, are Sony’s property, so it can’t say for sure if they’ll appear on platforms besides the PlayStation 3.

"Flower, flOw, and Journey are all owned by Sony. We won't be porting them over to iOS, Steam, other consoles, etc. If Sony wants to do any of that, they can," he revealed. "As for what we'll work on next, we aren't going to announce what will happen until we announce it, so you'll just have to play the waiting game. We are very excited about this new game, just like with flOw, Flower, and Journey."

Journey is set to appear for the PlayStation 3 next month, on March 13, in North America, and March 14, in Europe, kicking off the traditional PSN Spring Fever promotion.
