Josh Sawyer, the leading developer working on Pillars of Eternity, says that the Obsidian title scope equals quality and that he wants to deliver one of the biggest world that fans of the role-playing genre have ever seen.

He tells Rock, Paper, Shotgun that, “It’s like, tighter, more focused, more unique. We still want places to feel unique and have cool unique content in them, but we must have a big game. Just by virtue of the fact that we have two big cities and a megadungeon, that’s a lot of levels.”

Pillars of Eternity will use classic role-playing concepts and party-based combat and Obsidian wants gamers to become part of a complex world.

All its lore and characters are being built from scratch, but many core fantasy ideas will be present.

Pillars of Eternity will be out on the PC in 2014.
