Actor Josh Brolin was often targeted in the media on suspicion of cheating on his wife, Diane Lane – but none of those stories was true, he says in a brand new interview in which he tries to clear up all misunderstandings.

Only months after getting married in 2004, Lane called the cops on Brolin, saying he’d been violent towards her as a domestic fight went bad. She refused to press charges.

In the following years, Brolin was repeatedly reported to be cheating on Diane, including with one of his co-stars in 2007, with whom he was even pictured kissing.

Speaking with Playboy (via Us Weekly), the actor explains all these things that eventually contributed to his image as a player and an aggressive man – when he’s neither of the two.

“I don’t [expletive] around on my wife,” Brolin says for the October issue of the men’s magazine. “I mean, check her out, man. My relationship with my wife is fantastic,” he adds.

As noted above, in 2007, Brolin was photographed kissing “Grindhouse” co-star Marley Shelton and the entire thing was made into something that simply is not true.

“Marley is my wife’s and my great friend. I’m an extremely affectionate guy... Marley and I were out together, turned around and saw there were cameras. That’s it,” he explains

“Next time I see that camera guy, I’m going to give some guy a good smack on the lips and then hopefully it will be ‘Josh Brolin is gay’ instead of that I’m [expletive] around on my wife,” the star jokes.

When asked about another story that brought him unwanted attention, that about his arrest after a domestic fight, Brolin acknowledges things got out of hand back then with Diane.

“I feel rage about that. I feel I’ve gotten to a point where I can’t explain it, defend it or compensate for it. I can’t say, ‘No, I’m actually a really good guy and that didn’t happen.’ Everybody knows what happened because it’s all out there,” he explains.

“I talked big, she said ‘[Expletive] you’ and called the cops, and somebody had to go to jail. This will be there for the rest of my life. That [expletive] sucks. It’s been so disruptive to our lives. It’s also post-O.J., and that horrifies us both. It kills me, man. It kills me,” the actor goes on to say.

When he’s not defending himself in the interview, he’s taking sides with his “Jonah Hex” co-star, Megan Fox, saying she really deserves a break in the industry.

In fact, Brolin is so convinced Fox needs a proper shot at showing what she’s able to do in front of the camera, he’s thinking of taking her on board his production company.

“I would love to be the person who puts Megan in a film in which she can actually do something interesting,” he says.
