Initial reports had it that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be the baddie in the upcoming Batman film, “The Dark Knight Rises,” but they turned out to be false. Nevertheless, fans may still see him working with Chris Nolan on the pic, it has emerged.

Joe is officially in talks for a role in the much-hyped Chris Nolan production, though what that may be is still not know, especially since Tom Hardy is officially the bad guy.

Deadline has confirmed that the actor is now in negotiations with the movie studio. If these go well, this would mark the second time he’s worked with Nolan after the critical and commercial hit that was “Inception.”

“Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to reunite with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises for Warner Bros.,” Deadline reports.

Apparently, Gordon-Levitt’s involvement is almost certain.

“I’m not sure what role he’ll play, but I’m told that he will be in the movie when Nolan starts production this spring. Gordon-Levitt will be done shooting the Rian Johnson-directed Looper with Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt by then,” the same report notes.

“Nolan keeps his films shrouded in secrecy, though he did lift the veil recently to disclose that Anne Hathaway would play Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and Gordon-Levitt’s Inception co-star Tom Hardy will play Bane. What role fits Gordon-Levitt?” Deadline asks.

The question is actually on everybody’s lips, given that, in July last year, word got out that he was to play the villain in Nolan’s third and last Batman film.

In the end, the role went to Tom Hardy (he’ll play Bane), as we also noted a short while ago.

What with Bane and Catwoman in the picture, having Joe also on board could either mean that Nolan is packing the film with more baddies than ever, or that Robin will also be making a comeback, word online has it.
