Chelsea's defeat to Middlesbrough last Wednesday is still a pretty discussed topic in the English media. And that's not because the journalists are trying to make it so, but because the Boro players are still enthusiastic about their big win. Their Australian goalkeeper even decided to blast the Blues for not shaking hands at the end of the game.
In an interview earlier in the weekend, Mark Schwarzer named the Chelsea players "bad losers" and blamed the Blues for
not accepting to shake hands with him at the end of the game.
The statement got to Chelsea's boss Jose Mourinho, who couldn't keep himself from answering the Australian the same way. The Portuguese ridiculed Schwarzer later yesterday, accusing the Boro keeper for saying "stupid things".
"This isn't a case of us being bad losers - it is a case of someone who is not used to beating the big teams getting confused. In football, it is very difficult for the big people to lose matches - and very difficult for the small people to win them. When you are used to winning big games and you lose, you still have to know how to behave. And my players do this", stated Mourinho, according to "The Sun" newspaper.
Moreover, the Portuguese reminded the Australian that he and his players did act fair-play at the end of the game, despite their loss: "I think Schwarzer is a good goalkeeper and I never suspected he would have vision problems! But he obviously didn't see the Chelsea players exchanging shirts or the Chelsea manager waiting to congratulate the Middlesbrough players. I don't understand why he is saying this. It would be far better for him to enjoy the moment after beating Chelsea".
