The British media has a very funny way of poking fun at celebrities who don't quite belong in showbiz. Aside from the fact that glamour model Katie Price, aka Jordan, has done more than enough to qualify for being a star, and despite her many talents and accomplishments (which include dressing up in slutty clothes and having the most famous pair of boobs on the planet) some people simply refuse to show her love.
Katie Price, who is now pregnant with her fourth child, has recently been named 'Mother of the Year', during a ceremony to which she also attended. Apparently, there is nothing wrong with that. Quite on the contrary. But, if you look at the other 'candidates' for the title, you will understand why I say that the media completely owned Jordan with this.
The British newspapers wrote: 'Glamour girl Jordan was crowned Grattan Celebrity Mum of the Year today. Jordan, real name Katie Price, was chosen by the public and beat Jade Goody, Kate Moss and Heather Mills McCartney to the title.' So far, so good. But let's have a look at who are the other women Jordan beat to the punch: Kate Moss is a former cocaine addict, who is now in a destructive relationship with a drug addict and who has been repeatedly accused of neglecting her daughter.
Jade Goody is a no-name British reality star who made it big a couple of months ago when she was evicted out of the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house. The voters all agreed on the fact that she had to go after bullying another contestant and throwing racial remarks at her. She is a woman with no self-esteem and no sense of shame or of how ridiculous she is whatsoever.
Heather Mills' parental skills are not to be questioned because she is rarely seen in the company of her daughter. Other than that, the general reaction towards her is that she's a gold-digger and attention seeker of the worst kind, who breaks in on people's properties to shoot her PETA campaigns.
When Jordan accepted her award, she said: 'I'm so pleased to receive this award. Harvey and Junior will be so proud of their mummy'. She probably didn't realize that she just got screwed (again!). While I can't help but admire the subtlety with which the newspapers handled this situation, I also feel kinda bad for Jordan. Poor dumb girl really thought she stood a chance...
