The story of the Fusion Garage JooJoo tablet is one of intrigue, as the tablet has been the subject and motive of everything from end-users’ anticipation to legal heat. However, despite all the setbacks, and regardless of the current relationship between Fusion Garage and TechCrunch, the slate seems to have, at least, been completed and made ready to greet the world.

The first details on the product specifications of the device were revealed when JooJoo passed through the hands of the Federal Communications Commission. Later, a couple of days ago in fact, it was noticed that Fusion Garage had started to accept orders. Now, the company has stepped forth and made the official announcement.

Dubbed the JooJoo Internet tablet by its makers, the slate has, practically, become the first multimedia tablet to actually start shipping. Apple may have been the first to officially and gloriously introduce its iPad, but that slate won't start shipping until April 3rd. This puts the JooJoo in a rather unique, and favorable, position. Not only that, but those who pre-ordered the slate will actually get it on Monday, March 29th.

The JooJoo tablet measures 12.1 inches and has a comprehensive user interface that allows end-users to easily access Internet applications, play music, view HD videos and use social media and web services. The hardware specifications include an Intel Atom N270 central processing unit, the first-generation NVIDIA ION graphics processor, a 4GB SSD, WiFi, a capacitive touchscreen (1366 x 768-pixel resolution) and support for Adobe Flash 10.1 and Java.

Fusion Garage makes a point of mentioning that the 12.1-inch display is “the largest capacitive touch screen of any device on the market.” Finally, the slate is powered by a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.

The device is listed on the official website with a price of $499.
