“Tudors” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers may have attempted suicide in his London home

“Tudors” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been hospitalized hours ago after he called paramedics to his $6 million mansion, where he was found slumped on the floor after apparently overdosing on pills.

The actor has a long history of alcohol abuse, having been to rehab no less than five times and always relapsing shortly after he got out, as per reports in the press.

This time, though, Meyers overdosed on pills, with several media outlets saying that it looks like he wanted to take his own life.

It is believed Meyers was depressed at the time he ODed. X17 Online says he was conscious when the paramedics arrived to his house, having called them himself – but he refused treatment for about half an hour.

“The British actor is said to have taken a bottle full of pills at his $6 million mansion Tuesday night before calling paramedics who found him slumped on the floor upon answering his emergency call,” the e-zine writes.

“Paramedics reportedly had to call the police after Meyers refused treatment for more than 30 minutes,” X17 goes on to say.

Sources are saying for the tabs that all those present on the scene agreed on that Meyers had a failed suicide attempt.

“This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life,” X17 cited a source as saying.

Meyers was released from the hospital shortly after admission, but he would not comment on what had brought him to the ER in the first place.

His friends, though, are a bit more generous with the details, saying for Us Magazine that he did not attempt to kill himself – he just fell off the wagon again.

“It was not a suicide attempt. He did relapse and was hospitalized for that, but was released,” says a friend who chooses to go on the record under the cover of anonymity.

Just earlier this month, Meyers had admitted himself to rehab for a fifth time to deal with his alcohol issues.
