They might be nothing short of D-list celebrities, but Jon and Kate, the parents on the Jon & Kate Plus 8 TV reality show, have struck a cord with the audience. While the separation of the couple spelled the end of an otherwise “picture perfect” TV family, it only poured more fuel on the fire driving public interest. Microsoft revealed that that the gossip generated by the Gosselin duo, now of the “one plus one” plus eight show, was second only to the global event that was the death of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, in terms of MSN news headlines.

According to statistics made public by the Redmond company, the audience cannot get enough of the Jon and Kate drama. The dissolution of the couple has managed to bring the two even more in the spotlight of the celebrity stage. A survey released by MSN indicates that the volume of gossip and news orbiting Jon and Kate Gosselin’s separation has in no way reached the point of saturation. In fact, celeb watchers across the US are left hungry for more.

No less than 70% of respondents in the MSN survey indicated that they were far from being satiated by news on the ex-pair. “The survey was conducted online with a random sample of 1,038 men and women, 18 and older — all members of the Impulse Research proprietary online panel. The Impulse Research proprietary online panel has been carefully selected to closely match U.S. population demographics, and the respondents are representative of American men and women ages 18 and up. Research was conducted in June 2009. The overall sampling error rate for this survey is +/-3 percent at the 95 percent level of confidence,” Microsoft stated.

The surveyed members of the audience pointed out that they expected the Jon and Kate drama to continue throughout the duration of the summer, and to even deepen, much to the delight of the beholders to this veritable reality TV marital accident. Microsoft itself is keeping a close eye on the couple via Wonderwall.

“With the season more than half way through, and the couple’s series returning to TLC on August 3, it looks like the separated couple will continue to keep the tabloids on their toes. Jon has vowed to stay out of the headlines, however continues to be linked to multiple women including Star tabloid reporter Kate Major, who recently spent time with Jon in the Hamptons, along with Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, and "Real Housewives of New York City" star Jill Zarin,” Microsoft revealed.
