14 DAY TRIAL // Their nasty divorce battle ended a long time ago but all signs point to Jon and Kate Gosselin still having some fight left in them. Jon is now saying that he’s seeing lawyers to file for primary custody of the sextuplets because Kate is definitely not a fit mother.
Jon and Kate, parents to 8 children (sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel, and Leah, and twins Cara and Mady), shot to fame on TLC’s hit reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8, which became Kate Plus 8 after the divorce and eventually went off the air altogether as ratings took a nosedive.
As of late, Kate has been doing a lot of interviews with the twins in the hope of launching a new reality series.
By agreeing to do them, Kate is in direct violation of the custody arrangement they have, Jon tells InTouch magazine: namely that she’s supposed to call him to offer him the option of watching the sextuplets because she would be out of Pennsylvania.
“First, I’m going to file for an emergency petition for contempt ... The next step is to fight for custody. It’s the only way I can protect the younger six,” he reveals for the tab, adding that he won’t be going to court until he’s saved enough money for court fees and attorneys.
It’s not like the six younger kids (the sextuplets are 9, the twins are 13) like living with their mom anyways, he muses.
“They live in fear of Kate. Every time I see them, they tell me they want to live with me,” he says. “Regardless of what the judge decides, I have to at least try. I just wish Kate would wake up, realize how she’s behaving — and change her ways,” Jon continues.
Kate is yet to address this in any way, just as she refused to address claims made by Jon in previous interviews. Instead of speaking out on them, she had the twins do all the talking for her and, while they refused to do so on camera, they were feeling less generous towards their dad in a print interview, in which they pretty much threw him under the bus.
