Jon Gosselin Is the Most Annoying Celebrity of 2009

It’s that time of the year when charts and tops are made to show the best and worst of the past 12 months, from film to music, fashion and celebrities. Speaking of stars and with the motto that “annoyance is the great equalizer among human emotions,” the SC Times has comprised a list of the ten most annoying celebrities of the year that is about to end – and, to no one’s surprise, Jon Gosselin wins by a long shot.

While the reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8” still aired on TLC and before the two protagonists, Jon and Kate Gosselin, announced they would move to get a divorce, Jon always seemed to be more loved by the public. Whether because Kate came across as very controlling and relentless for most of the time, or due to the fact that Jon always seemed to be the more relatable, the fact is that audiences loved him. Not so much anymore, as Mr. Gosselin has repeatedly and constantly disgraced himself in the media, either with his behavior or his statements, the SC Times says.

“This guy is so annoying that he made his wife Kate seem less annoying than usual this year. Once the couple split, which you may have heard about in the media, he made one annoying move after another. His wife, on the other hand, took the high road, assuming you believe that the ‘high road’ is granting a series of TV interviews in which you whine about your money problems,” the publication says.

Second place goes to the most annoying couple in the industry for the past couple of years: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Minor reality TV stars, these two never miss out on an opportunity to pose for the paparazzi, with some saying that it’s actually them who always call the paps to take their picture. The Kardashians are up next, for taking their personal lives and making them tabloid fodder because they have nothing else to show for their fame, while shamelessly charging for it.

Gossip blogger (or “bottom-feeder,” as the publication calls him) Perez Hilton is fourth in the chart, followed by Kanye West, a place the rapper earns mostly for his VMA outburst with Taylor Swift. Levi Johnson, Kara DioGuardi, Joe Jackson and Miley Cyrus are also featured in the top 10 list. Nadya Suleman also earns a spot on it at number 7, though the SC Times doubts she even deserves to be called a “celebrity.”

“Nadya Suleman: You might know her better as ‘The OctoMom.’ I use the word ‘celebrity’ loosely in discussing her, but I had no plans to write a list of the ‘Most annoying mother of 14 children,’ so I had to include her here.
