There was a time when not a day went by without one mention of Jon Gosselin in the press. Today, the former star of the now-defunct “Jon & Kate Plus 8” reality show, is so broke that he can't even make rent, so he's forced to live with his mother again.

The April 9 print edition of The National Enquirer (story via CB) claims that Mr. Gosselin has hit rock bottom financially, now that his 15 minutes of fame are long gone and almost forgotten.

Whatever money he must have made while on the show is gone. He's so broke that he even relies on his own mother to help him out with the bills.

“The former star of 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' has finally hit rock bottom and was so down and out that his 65-year-old mother Pamela Castello moved halfway across the state of Pennsylvania to share a townhome with him, say sources,” the Enquirer writes.

Jon doesn't even have a car, relying instead on her mother's “beat-up” vehicle that they share.

“Jon is going broke – he has no job and I think he has used and abused all the people close to him that helped him financially, like his brother Mark,” says an insider.

To make matters even more complicated, he also has to pay support for the 8 children he has with his ex-wife Kate who, by all accounts, is much better off than he is, though her career too is a far cry from what it once was.

“He’d wanted his mom to move to the Reading, PA area for a while, and since she is almost the only person left that will still help him financially, he talked her into getting a townhouse – and she pays rent…,” says the same unnamed source.

Admittedly, even when Jon was living with his girlfriend, he would still rely on his mother for rent money.

“When Jon and Ellen [his last girlfriend] lived together, Ellen split the rent with Jon’s mother – it’s quite sad, actually,” the spy adds.

Jon and Kate starred on TLC's biggest reality series to date. “Jon & Kate Plus 8” peaked when they announced their divorce in front of the cameras and hit rock bottom when Jon was fired.

He then tried to legally bar his children from being on the show, but he failed. Kate carried it on her own afterwards, but TLC canceled it when interest reached a new low.
