They were acquainted for under a week, attorney says

Several months ago, Michael Lohan, the father of highly mediated actress Lindsay Lohan, and Jon Gosselin of the now defunct TLC reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” seemed inseparable BFFs (best friends forever). Reports even said that they were planning on going into business together, a claim Gosselin’s attorney is now refuting in a press statement released to E! Online.

Jon Gosselin is now being sued by TLC, the network once producing and carrying the aforementioned show, for breach of contract, claiming that he signed on for other deals with the media while he was still bound by exclusive contract to the network. In order to sustain this claim, TLC asked Mr. Lohan to testify in the case, bringing confirmation that, indeed, Mr. Gosselin received money from other media outlets while still under contract. Fans will remember that reports even had it at one time that the two were pitching an idea for a new reality show together.

This, of course, if confirmed, would prove that Mr. Gosselin was in violation of his contract with TLC. The only problem is, as he puts it, that he hardly knew Lohan to begin with, so the testimony he just gave the other week in court is utter fabrication. Jon and Michael only knew each other for about under a week and were never as close as it has been suggested, Gosselin’s attorney says in the statement. Chances are the latter was using the former for publicity purposes, he adds.

“I think it’s regrettable that Michael Lohan is publicly discussing his relationship with Jon. Jon really doesn’t want to dignify anything that Mr. Lohan is addressing in the media. I think it’s very clear that Jon did not enter into any legal arrangement with Mr. Lohan and has done nothing of a negative nature in his dealings with Mr. Lohan... I think he only knew Mr. Lohan for under a week,” attorney Mark Heller states.

E! Online also informs that, in the testimony he gave the court the other week, Michael Lohan confirmed TLC’s suspicion that Jon Gosselin had been looking for other ways to make money all along. Apparently, he stated that the two had worked out several business endeavors of which Gosselin pulled out when he learned that his contract with TLC was crumbling down, thus costing him a lot of money and, clearly, causing bad blood between the two.
