Jon Bon Jovi’s 19-year-old daughter Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was arrested a few hours ago after she apparently overdosed on heroine in her dorm room at the Hamilton College in upstate New York, Fox News reports.
A roommate was also arrested when police arrived on the scene and found small traces of the drug in the room.
“Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was arrested early Wednesday morning, after cops responded to a dorm room at Hamilton College, in upstate New York, where a female had allegedly overdosed on heroin and was unresponsive. Volunteer medical personnel were already at the scene when police arrived,” the publication reports.
Stephanie is now in hospital recovering, and will have to be present in court at a later date to answer to the charges being formulated against her.
“The singer’s daughter was arrested on misdemeanor charges including possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia,” Fox News says.
In a statement to the same media outlet, police have confirmed the arrest and the charges brought up against the two students.
Moreover, it mentions that the College is also looking into the incident and will act accordingly if the two are found guilty.
“All are misdemeanors. In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy. The college is cooperating with the police investigation,” the statement clarifies.
As of now, a publicist for the Bon Jovi family has refused to make a statement on the alleged OD and subsequent arrest or, for that matter, to comment in any way on Stephanie’s condition.
On the same note, no one knows whether she had a history of drug abuse or not, or if this was just a one-time thing gone terribly wrong.
