Owners of older Samsung smartphones might soon be able to breathe new life into them through loading a brand new operating system, namely Jolla’s Sailfish OS.

The OS, made official last year, has already landed on shelves on top of Jolla’s own handset, promising a new, different experience when compared to what other mobile platforms have to offer.

While there’s no official announcement available on the possible launch of Sailfish OS on Samsung devices, a tweet coming from a Jolla engineer suggests that there’s a possibility that the platform will be released for said phones.

Most probably, he was referring to the fact that a port of the OS could be released for these smartphones, following the availability of such software for Nexus 4.

There’s no telling on how long it will take for the OS to arrive on older Samsung devices, but more on the matter could be unveiled soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
