Today, Finnish wireless carrier DNA has officially announced plans to make the new Jolla smartphone available for purchase through its DNA Stores around the country starting tomorrow, December 11.

At the same time, the operator confirmed that users who pre-ordered the device during the second batch of reservations would be able to grab their phones through its retail locations, as long as they have selected a DNA Store as the collection point.

“At this point, only a limited number of phones will be available, but they will be shipped to DNA Stores all over Finland, and, in addition to pre-bookers, will be available to the general public, as well,” says Cedric Kamtsan, DNA's business director in charge of the Jolla project.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the first set of Jolla phones was put up for sale at a launch event that DNA and Jolla held in Helsinki in late November.

The wireless carrier offered 450 smartphones to those who pre-ordered the device first, thus offering them the chance to be the initial owners of smartphones running under the new Sailfish OS.

Simultaneously, Jolla started to send units to users who pre-ordered the first batch of smartphones, and DNA claims that the delivery process is in full swing now.

Those who reserved the phone as part of the second batch of pre-orders can now collect their phones from a DNA Store in Finland, or from Jolla themselves, depending on the type of delivery they opted in for.

Deliveries to these users will start tomorrow, both at DNA Stores and by post, directly from Jolla, the wireless carrier also announced.

“Phones due for collection from DNA Stores will be held at the DNA Store selected by the customer until 13 December – buyers will get an SMS confirmation today,” DNA said.

Provided that there are phones that haven’t been collected by that time, they will be put up for sale on December 14. However, those who pre-ordered will have “a chance to collect their phones, subject to availability,” the carrier says.
