Blondes are said to have more fun, but a recent chart of the most beautiful women to have graced the silver screen throughout time shows that brunettes have more lasting appeal with the public. This is how Audrey Hepburn has come to be named the most breathtaking onscreen beauty, closely followed by Angelina Jolie.

Even if the younger members of the 2,000 movie fans queried voted for Jolie, Hepburn still won by a lot, The Telegraph informs. The star of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” long renowned for her beauty, has been given the ultimate distinction of the most beautiful actress on account of her perfect bone structure, almond eyes and immensely expressive face.

“A great cinematic beauty by definition has to look amazing in motion, not just in pictures. Audrey Hepburn is clearly a timeless beauty explaining why she is the nation’s choice, though a personal favorite of mine has always been Vivien Leigh – she was not only breathtakingly beautiful but had an astonishingly expressive face. Unlike many actresses, her expressions never run counter to her beauty, which seems an essential point of her being rather than just a quirk of genetics.” Nicola Moulton, beauty and health director of Vogue, tells The Telegraph about the attributes that got Hepburn the most beautiful distinction.

The top 20 of most timeless onscreen beauties also includes Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Lauren, Catherine Zeta Jones and Elizabeth Taylor. Keira Knightley, Halle Berry and Brigitte Bardot round up the top ten. The next ten positions are occupied by Julia Roberts, Vivien Leigh, Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Doris Day, Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Aniston, Michelle Pfeiffer and Liv Tyler.

Commissioned by Sky+ HD, the survey clearly points out that the appeal of brunettes with the public is definitely more enduring than in the case of blondes. Of the 20 screen sirens who have made the cut, only three (Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot) are blonde, as The Telegraph points out.
