Join the Song Campaign to Promote Sony Ericsson W890

- Be part of a Guinness World Record

By: Florin Troaca, Communications News Editor

Sony Ericsson just launched a new music and video based campaign to promote its latest W890 Walkman phone. Named "Join the Song", the campaign invites users to record a line of Depeche Mode's
"Enjoy the Silence" hit with their phone's camera (or their web camera), in order to be part of a Guinness World Record: the most participants in one recorded song.

To enter Join the Song you have to visit the campaign's website, found at this address, and upload your recording. For the moment, only users from Sweden, Denmark and Norway can participate and there are no details about other participant countries. However, the campaign is pretty cool and will surely provide fun moments to all those who join it.

As for the W890 phone itself, Sony Ericsson says it was created to provide "the ultimate music experience", and we believe that. The phone measures 104 x 46.5 x 9.9 mm, weighs 78 grams and offers quad-band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and HSDPA2100 connectivity, as well as GPRS and EDGE. Its music features include Walkman Player 3.0, MegaBass, SensMe to create playlists based on your mood, TrackID for easy music recognition, PlayNow and FM radio with RDS.

Furthermore, Sony Ericsson W890 comes with a 2 inch TFT display with 256K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with video recording, secondary video-call camera, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, WAP 2.0/xHTML and NetFront 3.4 browsers, RSS reader, email and Instant Messaging, Java MIDP 2.0 and a 2GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card included. The phone also packs a standard battery, Li-Po 950 mAh battery that should provide a talk-time of up to 9.5 hours and a stand-by time of up to 360 hours.

Besides the European version, Sony Ericsson W890 also has a US one (W890i) and a Chinese one (W890c) that will be soon available.
