Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir and Victor Voronov were married for 3 years before Johnny filed the divorce papers almost 2 months ago and everything about their personal life turned into a media circus. Today, we learn that they have reconciled and have called off the divorce, at least for the time being.

This should probably come as a pleasant surprise, but the fact that there were serious domestic violence accusations made by both sides makes it a little less so. Still, chances are an explanation is forthcoming.

For those who didn’t keep up with all the drama, a bit of context: Johnny filed the papers and immediately acted to have Victor thrown out of the home they shared. He claimed that Victor was jealous and immature, and even accused him of causing him damage to the tunes of many thousands of dollars by ruining his designer bags and shoes.

Weir is famous for his flamboyant style and expensive fashion taste, so, we imagine, if someone really wanted to cause him financial harm, his collection of clothes and accessories would be a good target.

And that wasn’t even the worst part of the allegations he made against his soon-to-be-former-husband: the star also claimed he had been raped, and physically and verbally mistreated, both in public, in front of witnesses, and in private.

In response, Victor said Johnny was the abusive spouse and that the humiliations he had suffered at his hands had been almost too many to recount.

That said, it’s strange that they have decided to go back to an apparently harmful relationship as this one. Either they’re choosing to stay in an abusive marriage (no matter which side causes the abuse), or they lied about being in one.

TMZ reports that the two met over the weekend to discuss their future and, after due consideration, decided to give their marriage another try. However, the reconciliation comes with several conditions for both.

“Victor wants Johnny to sign a document agreeing to publicly apologize for all the nasty things he said about Victor. Johnny must also agree in writing that he will no longer let his mother meddle in the marriage and she has to keep her nose out of their finances,” the celebrity publication reports.

The two are said to have “quibbled” over the document for a while but they eventually agreed on signing it. As of now, they’re yet to announce their decision to reconcile.
