Nothing like the last day of the year to tie the knot. While most people were happy about the New Year, figure skater Johnny Weir had an entirely different reason to celebrate: he'd just gotten married.

Weir, who officially came out in his memoirs precisely one year ago, had been dating Victor Voronov since this summer.

However, they had known each other for long before that. The whirlwind romance culminated on New Year's Eve, with the two tying the knot in a very small and private ceremony.

Weir himself broke the news on his Twitter page, right before leaving for a short honeymoon with his husband.

“I’m married!” he gushed on his official Twitter page. “No more livin' in sin,” he added as a joke.

He also clarified that the wedding hadn't taken place yet, saying the ceremony would be held in the summer at a location that is yet undisclosed.

“Wedding in summer! But all the official stuff is done now!” he explained.

As noted above, Weir came out in his book called “Welcome to My World,” though, by the time he did, word of his orientation had already gotten out online – or, at least, people had been speculating about it for months.

Speaking of the man he now calls his husband, in a recent interview, Weir said Voronov was the love of his life and man of his dreams, Us Weekly informs.

“[He's] kind of everything that I've ever looked for and aspired to be in a relationship with,” the famous figure skater said at the time.

The fact that they had known each other for long and were actually friends at the time they started dating made their romance that much stronger, he explained.

“We've known each other for a long time and we reconnected over the summer, and it's just been a whirlwind,” Weir said.

“I'm very happy with my personal life and also my professional life, and I thank God I can be exactly where I'm at,” he added.
