Johnny Depp brings on the crazy again: the actor, in full Captain Jack Sparrow costume, graces the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. In the interview, Depp talks “Pirates,” Penelope Cruz and how the fourth film almost didn’t happen.

The upcoming issue of EW is the preview issue so, as a side note, fans should also be on the lookout for an exclusive photo from “Breaking Dawn,” of which we were telling you only hours before.

Fans know that Sparrow is the part that made of Depp a box office sure-hit, consolidating his position as one of the best actors of our time.

The actor himself has become so accustomed to the character that he wishes he’d never stop making “Pirates” movies, he says.

From what is being said online right now, he’ll be doing just that for the next few years since “Pirates 5” and “6” are reportedly in the pipeline, with Disney betting big money that “On Stranger Tides” will be huge.

“I’m never tired of the character. I don’t look forward to the day when I have to say goodbye to him,” Depp says. He also admits that he came very close to jumping ship before “On Stranger Tides” rolled into production.

“Things became a little creaky,” he says. In the end, everything turned out just fine and, as soon as they closed the book on the previous film, they could move to make “On Stranger Tides” more like the first film in the series.

“Things got very mathematical, very subplotty, on the last movie because there were a lot of things that needed to be resolved with the characters. I wanted to make a film that was more like the first one, that was more character-driven,” the star says.

As for whether more films are in the works, Depp is playing coy, saying that, as long as people want him and the story works, he’s in for the ride.

“As long as we can put all the puzzle pieces together, I would most definitely consider it. I always feel that with Captain Jack, you can chuck him into any situation and have a ball with it,” Johnny Depp explains.
