Johnny Depp, Vanessa Paradis Announce Split

After almost a year of incessant rumors, Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp have just confirmed that they are no longer together. They have split after 14 years and 2 adorable children together.

Confirmation comes from Depp's publicist in a brief statement to People magazine. Johnny and Vanessa will not be making any more comments at this time.

“[They] have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children,” the rep says.

For 14 years, Johnny and Vanessa represented one of the most solid, good-looking and envied couples in showbiz.

They have two children together, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9, but they never married, saying in countless interviews that they saw no need to do so when they were “as married as could be” by simply having a family together.

They met at a bar and, Johnny once said, he knew from the start it was love. They spent most of their time in France, away from the tabloid frenzy, only coming out for promotional work.

Word online has it tension began to mount when they moved to Los Angeles for Johnny to be able to pursue his various projects.

For the better part of the last year, there has been insane speculation as to the state of their relationship, with the tabloids saying that he was going through a midlife crisis, which also included affairs with other women.

For a while, they both denied them, saying they were still together and urging fans not to believe everything they read – because, if they did, they would also have to believe they'd been married and divorced and pregnant at least a few times throughout the years.

Johnny himself addressed the rumors in May this year, telling reporters on the red carpet that, “The rumors are not true. They are absolutely not true. No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite. I can’t say enough about it not being over.”
