He might have told the world that he plans to put Hollywood on hold for a while, but that doesn't mean that Johnny can't focus on other projects as well. As a matter of fact, the actor tried his hand at music, just like a long string of other tens of actors. The only difference is that Depp didn't do it just for the sake of it, but in order to have all the tracks included on the soundtrack of the fourth film from the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series. And, for it, he got the help of the best artists in the music industry. Bono from U2, British legend Bryan Ferry and folk singer Eliza Carthy are just a few from the artists who will appear on the album of the 'sea shanties'. Depp wanted The Rolling Stones guitarist, Keith Richards too (who will play Captain Sparrow's father in the fourth film), to work on the material but he had his well-known coconut-incident about the time recording began. Carthy told the press that the album came to life after Johnny came up with the idea, presented it to the producers of the movie and they agreed on it. 'He thought that pirates should be singing these tunes on the boat during the film. The producers liked the idea and let him record his album. Keith was booked in to come to Los Angeles, but then had that accident. Johnny was really upset and worried for him', she said. All the tracks are to be released on CD at a later and (yet) unspecified date.
