Reception will be this weekend, on Depp’s private island

This is why it pays to have your very own private island! Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were married the other day at their home in Los Angeles, with the reception and the bigger ceremony scheduled to take place this weekend, on Depp’s private island.

Confirmation of this is yet to come from the two stars, but People Magazine reports that it’s just a matter of time until that happens. The celebrity publication is just one of the many media outlets confirming the happy news.

Small but legally binding ceremony

Apparently, after taking some time off late last year to figure things out, Johnny and Amber, who met and possibly became romantically involved on the set of their 2011 movie “The Rum Diary,” decided that they wanted to grow old together, so they were married this week.

The legally binding and very small ceremony took place at home, and only their closest friends and immediate family members were on hand to witness it. Presumably, the bigger ceremony will make it up for those who were not invited.

It should be noted that rumors that Amber and Johnny would be married picked up considerably over the past couple of weeks. Some time ago, in one of her promotional interviews, Amber revealed she suspected some of her “friends” of leaking stories about her (and Johnny) to the press, and it seems like she’s yet to plug that leak.

A highly mediated romance

Before he started dating Amber, Johnny was with Vanessa Paradis for almost 14 years, and they were considered one of Hollywood’s most solid and lovable couples. They have 2 children together, and they seemed to have the ability to weather any kind of storm even though they were not married.

They would often be pressed with questions about wedding plans and they invariably answered the same way: what point was there for an extra piece of paper lying around the house when, for all intents and purposes, they were already husband and wife and had a family together?

Rumor has it that Johnny cheated on Vanessa with Amber, but he and his new girlfriend made sure to repeatedly deny it, saying they only got involved after his relationship with the French star ended. As a matter of fact, they only stepped out as a couple after he and Vanessa were officially done.

Johnny and Amber got engaged in early 2014 but never spoke publicly about a possible wedding date. Depp did say in several interviews that he was itching to walk down the aisle because he wanted to get started on having more kids the sooner the better.

Things seemed to come to a screeching halt later that year, when they took a break: apparently, his eagerness and lack of patience was driving Amber up the wall, as she wasn’t sure marriage was such a good idea for her anymore.

They eventually reconciled and worked things out. Congratulations are definitely in order.
