Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at the BFI London Film Festival over the weekend, to present Sir Christopher Lee with an award, and the first photo of the two together has emerged online. Depp is now a blonde. Ehmagerd.

Depp usually stands out at all kinds of events for his dark hair, homeless-chic style, tinted glasses, scarves, rings and even eye makeup but, clearly, he ditched them all for this particular occasion.

The outing also marked the first time he was seen in public with his blonde locks, which he got for the role of the Big Bad Wolf in Rob Marshall’s “Into the Woods.”

The film is based on the Broadway play of the same name by Stephen Sondheim and boasts a stellar cast including Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, Tracy Ullman and James Corden.

It will be out on December 25, 2014: we have a long wait ahead of us for the first photos of Depp in character.
