Almost three years after the death of the legendary artist, his posthumous album managed to sell 88,000 copies in its first week after the release date.
Yet, since 1991, no other number one album sold fewer copies. But that only goes to show that what Johnny Cash actually did was to conquer new audiences and a vote of acceptance from his younger fans.
By the time of his death, in September 2003, the artist recorded more than 50 new tracks that Rick Rubin compiled for two new materials. One was the resulted 'American V: A Hundred Highways', released on the 4th of July and the second, titled 'American VI', is said to hit the stores in 2007.
'American V' includes the very last song ever written by the Man in Black, 'Like the 309', dated only a few days before his death. It is Cash's first number one album since 1969.
