John Travolta is one of the most prominent celebrity believers in the doctrine of sci-fi author L. Ron Hubbard but, unlike certain fellow stars, he’s not afraid to proclaim his love for the Church of Scientology in various interviews.

Speaking with The Guardian, Travolta credits Scientology with not only helping him live a pain-free life but also of saving it.

However, he refuses to talk about the “negative press” the cult has been getting over the years, particularly as of late, as serious allegations have emerged online.

“Well, you know, I love Scientology,” Travolta says.

“I’ve been involved for 38 years, and I don’t think I’d be here without it because I’ve had a lot of losses and different negative things that have happened over the years and it really got me through brilliantly. I would walk in to a session feeling one way and walk out feeling a lot better,” the actor adds.

He says he’s never regretted ditching Catholicism for Scientology because, unlike the former, the latter doesn’t just offer guidelines: it actually does something to make a change for the better.

“There are techniques for actually ridding you of stresses and pain as opposed to an advisory or recommendation on how to live,” he explains.

“I believe L Ron Hubbard resolved the human mind, and in resolving it he has also resolved human pain — that’s what I really think has happened here,” Travolta continues.

As we also noted some time ago, short after Tom Cruise’s shock divorce from Katie Holmes, Travolta was rumored to be gunning for Tom’s position as Scientology’s frontman / spokesperson.

Insiders told the tabs one year ago that Travolta thought he would be a much better “ambassador” for Scientology since he had a much wholesome family image, and had yet to make the PR blunders Tom had fallen victim to in the past.

If this is true, we could look at his most recent statements in this light: he still wants the “job.”
