The adaptation of the cult early `80s TV series Dallas for the big screen is going straight ahead. The going is not that smooth, with key parts still to be cast. Bend It Like Becham director Gurinder Chadha, presently involved in the last pre-production of another TV series based movie (I Dream of Jeannie) has all the support of the future to be J.R. Ewing, actor John Travolta.
The Grease and Pulp Fiction star is actively involved in the casting procedures as Kenyan born director is not in the US. Gurinder Chadha told the press: "I'm going to the United States next week, to meet up with John, as we haven't finished casting. We need to find actors to play Lucy (Ewing) and Pammy (Ewing)."
If rumor has it two of America's most desired teens are competing for the Lucy Ewing part (Jessica Simpson and Lindsay Lohan), the part of Pamela Ewing, once played by Victoria Pincipal is still un-cast.
The already cast members of the Ewing family are Miss Ellie (Shirley MacLaine), Sue Ellen (Jeniffer Lopez) and Bobby (Luke Wilson). Director Gurinder Chadha said: "We still haven't found a ranch location yet. We're looking all over the South for somewhere suitable."
Yet, apparently the movie is not to be shot in Texas but in Florida, or even California.
The original Southfork ranch still exists nearby Texas and is nowadays a museum dedicated to the TV series.
