14 DAY TRIAL // Despite the fact that he has been released by Guatemalan authorities and sent back to the US as he wanted, the John McAfee saga is still not over.
Shortly after landing on US soil, McAfee revealed that he’s broke because all his wealth is in Belize, the country where he is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of his neighbor.
“I have nothing now. I've got a pair of clothes and shoes, my friend dropped off some cash,” McAfee told ABC News.
He claims that $20 million (15 million EUR) in investments and 15 properties have been left behind in Belize.
And, as it turns out, another one of his dramatic episodes has simply been a part of his strategy. When he was rushed to a police hospital by Guatemalan authorities, he wasn’t having a nervous breakdown or a heart attack; it was nothing but an act.
This isn’t the first time when the antivirus pioneer claims that he lost his fortune. Back in 2009 he said that he lost 94% of his wealth because of the economic crisis.
