A collection of John
Lennon memorabilia is going to be auctioned at the Hippodrome in central London on Thursday evening.
The collection of memorabilia, estimated at $2,2 million, include the tunic that inspired the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover and a handwritten manuscript of All You Need Is Love.
The tunic, wore by John Lennon during a photo shoot for Life magazine in 1966, was estimated to be sold at $60,000. And the manuscript that is supposed to be from the stage after the Beatles appeared on a live TV performance in 1967, is estimated at $1,1 million.
Auctioneer Ted Owen said: "If this lyric reaches 500,000 pounds ( $1,1 million), and it could well go for a lot more, it would have doubled the world record price for a pop manuscript."
"The items in this sale combine all the best elements of the man himself,"Owen added. "It is iconic, idealistic and irreverent."
