A Canadian dentist believes he can clone a person with their DNA extracted from a tooth, and with this purpose he decided to buy crazy expensive famous people's teeth in an attempt to recreate some of the world's most loved celebrities.

He first bought Elvis's crown and then John Lennon's tooth, and declared he would be able to clone the star by 2040.

Michael Zuk publicly shared his work towards cloning the celebrity and stated he was also intending to make a documentary about the cloning process of Beatles' famous singer John Lennon.

The doctor is now waiting for a film production company interested in documenting his work, and once everything is set, he will start the process, according to his interview in Teethwise.

The cloning technology is available as it was used to create Dolly the Sheep and for cloning frogs back in the '50s.

In preparation for his life's plan, doctor Zuk bought Lennon's tooth for $32,000 (€23,286) at an auction back in 2011, thinking about the range of possibilities a celebrity's DNA can bring in the future. The tooth belonged to John Lennon's housekeeper and was passed on to her son who sold it in an auction.

If a John Lennon clone will be possible, this particular copy will recreate the “body and hardware of the brain,” meaning that everything else will be shaped by environmental factors and the people surrounding him.

“The musical ability in his DNA is undoubted so we would aim to create an environment for the child where this ability would be nurtured and allowed to develop,” the doctor says according to Teethwise.

Even if cloning Elvis Presley may seem really appealing for the bold dentist, the crown he has is not really a tooth, so it doesn't hold the King's DNA. That wouldn't be the only problem, the major impediment is the fact that another group already set their sight on Elvis's clone and they may have done progress in the process, so he better stick with Lennon.
