Joel McHale says he’s barred from making fun of Kim Kardashian and the family on The Soup

If one watches The Soup on E!, one may be easily tempted to believe it’s a show where no topic is off limits. That is actually not accurate, especially not where Kim Kardashian and the entire Kardashian clan are concerned, Joel McHale reveals.

The comedian recently sat down with Just Jared for an interview on future projects and what’s in store next for his fans, and revealed the real reason why Kim and her family hate his guts.

Fans must know that the Kardashians’ “home” is on E!, the network that came up with “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and its many spinoffs, the projects that made the family the highest earning clan in television.

This would explain why McHale was repeatedly instructed to lay off Kim and her family, and to steer clear of the juicy story of that tape she made with Ray J and which, at the end of the day, is the reason she became a star.

“I know the Kardashians don’t like me,” McHale says. “No one has said ‘how dare you,’ reality stars without exception have come up to me and have said ‘Thank you for making fun of me’,” he goes on to say.

“We made so much fun of Jake Pavelka, and he responded by coming on the show. With the Kardashians we’re not allowed to say they have a tape anymore because the network flips out,” the comedian explains.

Of course, the Kardashians aren’t the only stars on television to try and force McHale and his producers’ hand to not feature them on The Soup, he goes on to say.

“Tyra Banks was the only one that tried to make us not feature her show on ours, but then she changed her tune, and then she went off the air, much to our great disappointment,” says the comedian.

However, even with these strict rules in place, McHale still has plenty of other shows and stars to mock on The Soup.

“Dancing with the Stars is the show that keeps on giving. I also love Hoarders and My Strange Addictions, I like all the weird shows,” he says.
