Joe Manganiello has an amazing body and he’d like you to know that, unlike many other actors who flex their muscles on the cover of lifestyle magazines, he’s the real deal. Or, as he put it, he’s “like a unicorn in the world of actors.”

Those are words he actually used, exactly in this order, in his new interview with Men’s Health, on whose cover he’s showing off his ripped physique once more, the Daily Mail reports.

The “True Blood” star, who came under fire in the blogosphere twice before, once for saying Henry Cavill got to play Superman only because he backed out of the role over scheduling issues, and once for complaining to a magazine that he was being prejudiced against in the industry because he was so handsome, isn’t winning any new friends with this new interview.

In an industry where grudges can last for decades and the smallest perceived offense cuts deep and can come with devastating consequences, Joe would better learn that it’s best never to bad-mouth your mates, even if you don’t name them one by one.

“A lot of the actors who are on the cover of lifestyle magazines look like they’ve had their waistline airbrushed or they’re wearing winter clothes or whatever,” he says.

It’s true: many magazine covers are airbrushed, sometimes to the point of being hilarious to look at. This applies to both men and women so, if Joe had stopped there, he would have been in no danger of crossing the line.

But he didn’t.

“I see them and think: ‘That guy doesn’t work out, I know that guy and he smokes two packs of cigarettes a day and is a complete drunk on the weekends.’ Now he’s putting out an illusion on the cover of a glossy magazine. It’s absurd to me. I’m athletic and I’m healthy. I’m like a unicorn in the world of actors,” he continues.

From the Mail, one gets the impression that he’s not joking about this, he really is that judgmental about other male stars who get coverage for bulking up. It’s not like he has the exclusive rights over looking good, after all.

Joe jokes later in the interview, when he explains that his commitment to staying healthy and fit is such that he’s like a “beast” in the gym.

“I didn’t just train after work: I hit the gym like an animal. I pushed myself to the point where people around me were borderline frightened,” he laughs, talking about his role on “True Blood.”

That last part was funny. Still, saying you’re the only one who takes working out seriously and implying that you should be alone on the cover of all lifestyle magazines, not cool, Joe. Not cool at all.
