Although Joby is best-known for its highly-innovative adjustable tripod solutions for digital cameras, Joby seems to be quite keen on expanding its product lineups into other market segments as well, as the company has just unveiled at CES 2011 a couple of new GorillaMobile cases designed specifically for Apple's iPad tablet, called Ori and Yogi.
The GorillaMobile Ori transforms from a protective case to a versatile, ergonomic positioning stand and has been engineered from a superlight German-made aluminum/polypropylene composite, the four main viewing modes it enables being optimized for the task at hand, with the ability to adjust the display height and viewing angle in order to deliver a very comfortable iPad usage experience.
The
GorillaMobile Yogi takes a whole lot more inspiration from Joby's stands for digital cameras, since it comes equipped with oversized ball and socket legs enabling it to be easily attached to just about any surface, no matter how uneven it might be.
The Yogi enables an adjustable viewing angle in portrait or landscape orientation, while the polycarbonate case with rubber bumper protects the iPad from shocks and falls and the quick-release clip helps users detach the legs in a very fast and easy manner.
“JOBY excels at uncovering powerful consumer insights and designing products that change the way you interact with mobile devices.” says CEO Forrest Baringer-Jones.
“We set out to develop a case + stand solution that would enhance the daily iPad experience, so users could get more out of their device. In the course of our research, we realized that iPad users approach the product very differently depending on how the iPad integrates into their lifestyle – resulting in two very different but equally compelling products,” the company's rep added.
Pricing for the two new iPad cases from Joby is actually fairly decent, the Ori model selling for around 80 US dollars, while the Yogi is even more affordable, as it sells for roughly 50 US dollars.
