Apple's recent announcements are not the only elements adding to Steve's popularity

Radar Online's Fame-O-Meter says that Steve Jobs is almost as popular as Bill Gates, as a Web 2.0 mogul. Recent concerns about Jobs' health have undoubtedly added to his popularity in recent weeks, the publication believes.

"With the announcement of a cheaper, faster iPhone, Apple's Steve Jobs is climbing ever higher in online popularity and challenging Bill Gates for the #1 spot," Radar says. "The reigning leader in Web 2.0 moguls didn't have such a good week; poor little Microsoft got ditched by Yahoo for Google. Online and off, the Mac Guy is gaining on PC, but computers, and stock prices, always crash eventually."

The first and most important element adding to folks' interest in Steve Jobs is, of course, iPhone 2.0. Appearing in front of the WWDC '08 attendees, Steve and fellow execs began showcasing the new features soon to be implemented in iPhone 3G. Oh, yes, and then there's iPhone 3G. The announcement everyone was waiting for. While some were disappointed with the new device, it clearly got folks talking. I mean, just last week, almost 70 percent of the news I wrote were on the iPhone 3G, and bear in mind that this is not a Mac-based website.

The first concerns (this year) about Steve Jobs' health were raised after the company's World Wide Developers Conference debut, where Apple's CEO stepped on stage and started talking about what they'd been working on lately. Jobs looked vivid and full of energy in front of the anxious crowd, but he had an observably slimmer figure compared to his last keynote presentation held in Cupertino, on March 6, 2008 (the iPhone Software Roadmap event).

This gave birth to concerns regarding Steve Jobs' health. While even Apple can lie saying Steve was just a bit under the weather, this only intrigues people even more. As a person who hasn't even heard of Apple (not that this is remotely possible, but I'm just saying it to make a point) would probably say: "what's the deal with this company and its CEO?"

What else do you think has lately added to Steve's popularity?
