Jobless Cruise Gets a Movie Deal

Only a few days later after being sacked from Paramount, Tom Cruise is no longer the most famous actor on the planet with no studio to produce and promote his movies. Following a more than lucrative deal that spanned over fourteen years, Tom's parting from Paramount was accompanied by bitter remarks from both sides.

But now, he and his business partner, Paula Wagner, have found some investors to bring in money for the actor's films. At least, for the next two years. The two-year deal has as object a partnership investment headed by Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder and it stipulates that it will finance both high budget and low budget films.

If the first two years are advantageous, both for the investors and the Cruise/Wagner Productions, the contract will be renewed. 'This offers us the opportunity to work with all studios and continue doing what we were doing, but in more enhanced ways. This is not a deal about money as much as it is about access and about our future', Wagner told Reuters.

Financial details of the deal were not publicly mentioned, but it is supposed that Tom will be making under $3 million a year, which would be a step back considering that Paramount was paying him with approximately $10 million annually.

After Sumner Redstone and Paula Wagner exchanged angry remarks via the media and it was claimed that the reason for firing the 'Mission Impossible' star was his odd off-screen behavior, many thought that the actor's star would be going only down from now on. Then, it's no wonder that he accepted a deal that will bring him less than 1/3 of his previous salary.
