Over the weekend, Joan Rivers dropped another bomb on paparazzi, with whom she likes to joke this way whenever the chance presents itself, telling them there was no point in waiting for a gay male or female President in America because we already had one in Obama. Oh yes, First Lady Michelle Obama is a tranny, in case you were wondering.

It didn’t take long for the backlash to start: usually, almost everything that comes out of Rivers’ mouth is politically incorrect and, as such, offensive to a lot of people, but this time she really jumped the gun. As with mostly everything in life, you have to know where to draw the line even with jokes. Many believed that Rivers had crossed said line with her tranny jab at Michelle.

Perhaps those same people expected her to apologize for saying those things. You can find Joan’s conversation with the paparazzi in the video embedded below: it took her only 30 seconds to step on so many toes and get herself in the headlines once more, for all the wrong reasons.

You see, the comedienne says in a statement to CNN, the problem is not with her but with us for being offended. Always striving to be politically correct, we have forgotten to appreciate the funny things in life and, at the same time, to know how to spot a compliment when need be.

The latter applies here, with Joan’s comments about Michelle Obama.

“I think it's a compliment. She's so attractive, tall, with a beautiful body, great face, does great makeup. Take a look and go back to La Cage Au Follies (sic). The most gorgeous women are transgender. Stop it already ... and if you want to talk about ‘politically correct,’ I think this is a ‘politically incorrect’ attack on me because I'm old, Jewish, a woman and a ‘hetty’ – a heterosexual,” Rivers says.

“I plan to sue the reporter who, when he turned off his camera, tried to touch me inappropriately on the [backside] – luckily he hit my ankle. Read the book... if you think that's silly, wait to (sic) you see what I say about FDR and Eleanor!” she continues.

Clearly, Rivers isn’t planning on suing anyone right now, but it’s clear that she has some bones to pick with CNN. The other day, she simply stormed out of an interview that she deemed as taking too negative a turn, putting her in a position in which she had to defend herself.

To the reporter’s not-at-all veiled suggestion that she might not have been offended at all and that she only stormed out because she was putting on a PR stunt, Rivers issued another statement to say that never in her life did she do that – and she had no plans to start now. The only reason she walked out of the interview was because it was being conducted in a very unprofessional manner.
