14 DAY TRIAL // Joan Rivers had either the worst night of her life at the QVC Red Carpet Style last night, or the best. The 80-year-old comedienne was one of the guests who showed up for the event celebrating the fifth annual live-broadcast event on the channel, but she was the only one leaving in a hurry.
And with cake smeared all over her face, as photos over at the Daily Mail can confirm.
Hours before, she had walked the red carpet along with the other stars in attendance, Nicole Richie included. She looked stylish as always, in head-to-toe black, statement jewelry, big hair and that completely wrinkle-free face that she’s so proud of.
We don’t mean that as an offense to Joan; after all, she’s the first to boast about how much money she spends (invests?) on plastic surgery because she doesn’t want to grow old.
Then, after the red carpet ceremony, which went on without a glitch, out of the blue, she came out with her bodyguards, yelling at the people to get out of her way.
An insider tells the tab that she was heard screaming to the security guys, “Get me to my car!” and this seems to be confirmed by the photos available at the link above. Joan doesn’t look too happy to have had her outfit and face full of makeup ruined by a cake landing on them.
However, there’s a huge question mark hanging over the story that some stranger simply came up to her and “attacked” her with the oh-so-dangerous cake.
“Plenty of fellow guests at the event took to Twitter to write of their shock at the sight of the 80-year-old bolting from the party following the incident, though no-one seems to have actually witnessed the caking take place,” the Mail writes.
That is to say, if she was attacked, it happened when no one could see it even though she was surrounded by people. It’s more likely that the whole thing was just a stunt because, after all, Joan too has a line of clothes and jewelry sold through the QVC channel.
