Actress Joan Collins recently sparked an online frenzy by saying in an interview that she believed Angelina Jolie was the only beautiful actress now working, whereas Jennifer Aniston was simply cute.
Though Aniston has already issued a statement saying she would not be bothered with such “nonsense,” Collins is holding her ground, saying she would not apologize.
In other words, even if many found what she said offensive and uncalled for, she’s not apologizing for it because she believes every single word she said,
Us Magazine reports.
The mag got to speak with Collins just recently and, of course, the question of whether she planned to apologize came up. Definitely not, was Joan’s response.
“The bottom line is that I talked about several actresses, among them Catherine Zeta-Jones, Scarlett Johansson and Megan Fox,” Collins says for Us Magazine about how the media, once again, took things out of context.
Nevertheless, even so, she stands by what she says, the actress insists.
“Unfortunately, everybody got cut out [except Aniston and Jolie]. Typical. That’s the way it goes,” Collins adds.
For those who don’t know or remember what started all of this,
a quick reminder: earlier this month, Collins said in an interview with the Daily Mail that she believed Hollywood no longer had beauties like it once did – except for Angelina Jolie.
“I have to say, there aren’t that many good looking actresses around today. I mean, there’s Angelina Jolie and there’s... Angelina Jolie,” Collins said.
“Jennifer Aniston is cute, but I wouldn’t call her beautiful. She’s no Ava [Gardner] or Lana [Turner],” the diva added, in what was interpreted as a direct diss to the former “Friends” star.
Contacted for comment on this, a rep for Aniston played it cool, saying that, while his client was “aware” of the diss, she saw “no need to engage with that nonsense.”
Aniston’s refusal to get involved in the verbal feud was seen as a very admirable gesture, especially since she’d done absolutely nothing to provoke Collins and was, therefore, somehow justified to respond to her on the same note.
