Jimmy Fallon has 10 possible reasons for David Letterman’s decision to retire in 2015 and they’re all funny

Last week, David Letterman dropped a bomb on his loyal audience by announcing that, in 2015, when he would have celebrated 22 years on the job, he would retire. He said the time had come to say goodbye, but Jimmy Fallon has a better idea of what really happened.

Actually, he has about 10 of them. Ripping a page out of Letterman’s book, Fallon presented the other night his Top 10 List of reasons why Letterman is retiring. You will find it in the video embedded below.

Before “stealing” from Letterman the concept for the list, Fallon spoke a bit about the first time he met him and how David was probably the reason he wanted to become a talk show host as well. Fallon was clearly as surprised as everyone else by Letterman’s announcement.

Of the 10 listed “reasons,” my absolute favorite were that he “wants to quit while he’s still able to compete on Dancing With the Stars,” that he “made millions selling crack to Rob Ford,” and because “Jimmy Fallon is stealing his bits.”

However, the title of funniest (in my book, at least) goes to “He’s not retiring, he’s ‘consciously unhosting’,” a direct jab at Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent divorce announcement, in which she chose to call her separation from Chris Martin “conscious uncoupling.”

Enjoy!
