MTV Games and Harmonix, the two companies working on the Rock Band franchise, have announced that their online music store will be getting new songs from two of the bands that define the alternative rock genre, Stone Temple Pilots and Jimmy Eat World.

The new content will be delivered for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii and the additions mean that there are more than 800 artists and more than 2,000 tracks that fans of the Rock Band series can download and enjoy.

Six songs from Stone Temple Pilots will be delivered to fans of the band, with an additional song, called “Plush”, set to come as part of Rock Band 3 at the end of October.

This week fans can enjoy: “Creep”, “Dead & Bloated” and “Crackerman” from the debut album “Core”, “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart” which was featured on “Tiny Music… Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop”, “Big Empty” taken from “Purple” and “Huckleberry Crumble” from 2010's “Stone Temple Pilots”.

Jimmy Eat World comes to Rock Band just in time to celebrate the release of their latest album, “Invented”, which came to the market on September 28.

Fans will be able to download “Pain” from 2004’s “Futures”, “Bleed American” featured on the 2001 album which has the same name and “My Best Theory” from “Invented”.

The Stone Temple Pilots Pack 01 can be bought for 800 Microsoft Points or 9.99 dollars while the Jimmy Eat World Pack 02 costs 440 Microsoft Points or 5.49 dollars.

All the songs can also be obtained individually, with one selling for 200 Wii Points, 160 Microsoft Points or 1.99 dollars.

Harmonix and MTV Games are preparing to put out a new edition of Rock Band, with Pro Mode support and keyboard simulation, but the two companies have also stated that they will continue to release DLC for all versions of their titles.
