14 DAY TRIAL // While fans are waiting for him to return to television, now that he’s signed a deal with TBS, Conan O’Brien continues to reap praises for his stage show, The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour. While live on stage in Los Angeles, Coco (but especially his fans) had one of the most pleasant and unexpected surprises ever, as Jim Carrey jumped on stage and joined him in singing, as People magazine can confirm.
And that’s not all, as Carrey was also donning a Superman suit, complete with cape, tights and ridiculously oversized underwear worn as outerwear. Even more, after he was done singing, Jim also started surfing the stage as in flight, which, understandably, got fans laughing even harder, as the video below will also show. All in all, it was a remarkable cameo, especially given the high notes the two tried to reach towards the end of the song.
“Jim Carrey made a memorable cameo at Conan O’Brien’s stage show in L.A. on Saturday night, performing the title role in a spirited duet with O’Brien of the Five for Fighting song ‘Superman.’ Carrey’s unexpected appearance in a cape and tights brought screams of delight from the crowd at O’Brien’s Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on TV show, which he performed Saturday at the same Universal lot where he used to film The Tonight Show,” People magazine writes.
After the show, the two “singers” also took to their respective Twitter pages to speak highly of how ecstatic they were for the unlikely duet. “Jim Carrey rudely interrupted my power ballad last night. How did he get past security in a Superman outfit?” O’Brien also wrote in mock anger. Carrey, on the other hand, said he was thrilled about the audience’s reaction. “Loved doin’ concert with Conan! So many faces wide open like kids! The world was new and worry forgotten by all of us!” Jim said.
