The official website of the Jewish Agency for Israel (jafi.org.il) – an organization that handles the immigration of Jews from the diaspora into Israel – has been temporarily brought down over the past weekend as a result of a cyberattack.

Unknown attackers sent large amounts of packets from Hungary, Russia, Austria, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and other countries to prevent users from accessing the website, Israel National News informs.

In order to protect the information stored on the site, its administrators decided to block it for external users.

Currently, the website is running smoothly, new security measures being implemented to protect it from such attacks.

In the recent months, many Israeli organizations became the targets of hackers. Back in August, hackers from the Remember Emad group claimed to have stolen credit card records, Facebook passwords, and other sensitive information from web hosting company WebGate.
