tinyBuild Games, a small development company from Seattle, is trying to raise funds for a new game called JetGetters, which is a combination of a flying sim and Just Cause 2.

You might have heard of tinyBuild Games before, because they are also the developers of No Time To Explain. Now they have returned with a new gameplay concept that will basically allow players to hijack other players' vehicles in mid-air.

The reason why the developers from tinyBuild Games say that it borrows concepts from Just Cause 2 is the grappling technique used by the player to capture other vehicles, which is very similar with the one used in the title from Avalanche Games.

“JetGetters is a game about jumping out of jets, and landing on other jets. A fastpaced 3D multiplayer shooter, where teams of players fly high in the sky and hijack each other’s vehicles in mid-air,” reads the Kickstarter website.

According to the developers, each player will fly out of their base in a fighter of their choice and start shooting at the enemy. Ejecting from the plane to capture another is a core mechanic, so there is no penalty when you crash your plane, as long as you don't die in the process.

Now, if you jumped out of your plane but missed the hijacking, you can still call a teammate that can help you. You will also provide some extra firepower once you land on your friend's plane.

The best part of this hijacking mechanic is that you are not limited to just planes. You can also capture missiles and other airborne items. You can redirect the missiles towards the enemy and the items towards your teammates.

“JetGetters is a new type of game, and right now we're considering 4 game modes. This might change and evolve, and we hope the community will help us decide what to keep, add, or remove,” also said the developers in their announcement.

For now, JetGetters comes with the following gameplay modes: Team Deathmatch, Heist, Kill the Rabbit (a variation of capture the flag), and AirShip (one team attacks a giant airship and the other team defends it, but not with planes).

JetGetters will be released on multiple platforms, which include PC, Mac OS X, and Linux. A number of other platforms might be supported if the project gets enough funding.

The game is expected to arrive in September 2014. If you want to contribute, be sure to check the Kickstarter website.
