Green group PETA now has its mind set on rolling out a billboard encouraging people not to drink cow milk or eat dairy. According to the organization's website, the billboard will be put on display somewhere in Boston, US.

PETA has been known to hang banners urging people to go vegan before, and some of them were pretty shocking. Still, something tells me the one it plans to introduce folks in Boston to will cause way more controversy than the ones before it.

This is because the image that PETA wants the billboard to display shows Jesus and his mother, and is accompanied by the following message: “If it was good enough for Jesus... The breast is best. Dump dairy.”

The animal rights activists hope that, after having a look at their billboard, mothers will come to understand that the best thing they can do for their kids and for cows abused by the dairy industry is to breastfeed.

Interestingly enough, PETA got the idea to launch such a campaign from Pope Francis.

“We’ve liked Pope Francis ever since he chose his papal title in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. And now he’s being a champion for mothers – both human and bovine – by encouraging human mothers to breastfeed their children wherever they’d like, including in church.”

“By breastfeeding, mothers do what’s best for their own babies and let mother cows do the same. We think that’s divine,” PETA explains.
