Supersonic Geophysical geologist Jefferson Williams and German Research Center for Geosciences researchers Markus Schwab and Achim Brauer say that the New Testament version of Jesus of Nazareth was crucified on Friday, April 3, 33 AD.

They were able to come to this conclusion by analyzing seismic activities in the area around the Dead Sea. The salty lake is located around 21 kilometers (13 miles) from Jerusalem, the place where the Bible holds that the crucifixion occurred. The finding is reported in International Geology Review.

The sediments the team analyzed were collected from Ein Gedi Spa. Scientists found signs of two instances of seismic activity in the time frame they were interested in – in 31 BC, and again between 26 and 36 AD.

After factoring in Jewish calendar data, Biblical accounts and astronomical calculations, the team determined that the most likely date for the crucifixion was April 3, 33 AD.
