Here's a name we'll be hearing more often from now on: Jesus Orellana, a comic book artist from Barcelona, Spain. He's created a short film called “Rosa,” generated in its entirety on a computer, and is now working on turning it into a long feature film.

Orellana has always dreamed of being involved in the movies but he, like everybody else, knew that making live action films is expensive.

So, he turned his attention to the ever-trusted computer. In a year and with zero budget, he created a film that is as beautiful as it's bold and touching.

“Rosa” is described as “an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared.”

“From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival,” says the description for the short film.

“Rosa” is now being made into a long feature film, which can only mean there's more to the story than what is shown in the 9 minutes above.

For the time being, Orellana is keeping busy with dealing with the attention he's getting from mainstream outlets for “Rosa” and working on the extended version of the clip above.
